Africa Energy and Power Expo opens in Nairobi

The 13th Power and Energy International Trade exhibition that attracted over 300 energy companies drawn from over 20 countries across the world opened today in Nairobi.
The three day exhibition  that was opened by the Secretary for Administration in the State Department for Energy, Mr. David Wanyonyi on behalf of the Cabinet Secretary , Mr. Opiyo Wandayi brings together global manufacturers, suppliers, investors, and industry professionals  showcasing cutting-edge innovations in power generation, renewable energy, transmission and distribution and electrical engineering. The expo is also show casing lighting and energy storage technology solutions.
In his address, Mr. Wandayi underscored the critical role of energy as a driver for economic growth, job creation, and improved quality of life. “Energy is the engine that drives industrialization, create employment, supports health care, enhances education and improves the quality of life for our people”, said Mr. Wandayi.
Mr. Wandayi noted that the exhibition comes at a pivotal time, providing an ideal platform for industry stakeholders to exchange ideas, forge strategic partnerships, and showcase technologies that will shape the future of the country and Africa's energy sector.
He encouraged local entrepreneurs to take advantage of  the opportunity to learn from global best practices, adopt innovative solutions, and contribute to strengthening Kenya's energy sector for the benefit of future generations.
The Cabinet Secretary reaffirmed the government's commitment to working closely with 
stakeholders to accelerate access to modern, reliable energy while promoting environmental sustainability.
He also commended the Expo Group for successfully organising the exhibition and called for exhibitors productive engagements and partnerships during the three-day event. 
The Kenya Renewable Energy Association (KREA)  Chief Executive officer, Ms Cynthia Muhati appealed to international energy investors to put up manufacturing and assembling plants in Kenya to encourage skill transfer and build local capacity.
Ms.  Muhati said her association was lobbying the government to develop investor-friendly policies and laws to create favourable conditions to attract investments in the energy sector.
