Alex Wachira is the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Energy at Kenya's Ministry of Energy and Petroleum. An investment banking professional with over a decade of experience in fixed income securities trading, wealth creation management, and resource mobilization, he has played a key role in structuring financial instruments and mobilizing resources to support public investment and sustainable economic growth.

PS Wachira is currently pursuing a PhD in Organizational Leadership. He also holds a Master of Arts in Leadership — Business & Entrepreneurship from Pan-African Christian University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Nairobi.

Before joining government, he built a strong career in the financial sector, serving as a Fixed Income Dealer at Faida Investment Bank, where he was involved in trading government and corporate bonds, debt market advisory, and institutional research.

Beyond his professional work, PS Wachira has served on several institutional boards and committees, championing innovation, accountability, and improved institutional performance. He is also actively involved in community development, supporting youth through sports and contributing to healthcare access through philanthropic medical camps.

PS Wachira is passionate about leadership, public service, and driving transformative development across Kenya — particularly within the energy sector, where he has steadily guided policy formulation, stakeholder engagement, and the implementation, financing, and commissioning of major projects.
