Ministry reviews its Performance Contract Targets

The Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ministry of Energy and Petroleum Opiyo Wandayi today led a team of ministry officials to prepare Performance Contract (PC) for Financial Year 2024/2025 in readiness for the negotiation, ratification, and validation and the Performance and Delivery Management official next week.
At the meeting held at the Ministry’s headquarter, KAWI Complex Boardroom, CS Wandayi noted that this year’s Performance Contract aim to enable the Ministry contribute towards the achievement of the national development agenda as spelt out in the Kenya Vision 2023, the fourth Medium Term Plan and the specific priorities of the government in line with the Bottom Up Transformational Agenda (BETA).
Mr. Wandayi said, the Ministry has seven priory areas that comprise increasing electricity connection to customers in support of universal access to electricity, enhancing energy generation that is clean, sustainable, affordable and competitive, reliable and secure. Mr. Wandayi added that the ministry main focus will also include strengthening of the policy, legal and institutional framework for Energy development and accelerate the speed of completion of project. 
The Cabinet Secretary noted that the Ministry will also focus on improving reliability and quality of electricity supply to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales revenue to facilitate growth in energy sector in the Country, promote efficient utilisation and conservation of energy. 
He added that the Ministry will also concentrate its efforts to enhance exploration and investment in petroleum blocks for development of petroleum resources and ensure security of supply and distribution of competitively priced petroleum products and promote the use of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in households and Public Learning Institutions.
The meeting brought together all Heads of Departments/Sections/Units from both the State Departments for Energy and that for Petroleum led by their respective Principal Secretaries Mr. Alex Wachira and Mr. Mohamed Liban respectively.
It was noted that the State Departments draw their work plans from the CS’s Performance Contract and further be cascaded to the units, sections and individuals. 
Mr. Wandayi directed Ministry officials to focus on responding to complaints from members of the public on concerns over provision of services to build good image and reputation.
