Government commit to increase access to clean, renewable and competitive energy

The government has a projection to have a large percentage of households have access to clean, renewable, reliable and competitive energy by end of next years.
According to a strategic plan that runs 2023-2027, developed by the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, the government plans to have 90% of households have access to electricity while 100% of the population will have clean cooking solutions at the close of next.
The document indicates that the planned government energy programs will improve stability and availability through reduced customer and Systems electricity interruption.
To enhance environmental sustainability in the process of power generation, the blue print shows that the government will conduct re-afforestation in degraded catchment areas, ensure compliance with the environmental and social safeguards and adopt efficient energy solutions.
Additionally, the government has expressed commitment to reviewing and formulating new policies and laws that will attract and facilitate increased investment and utilization of renewable energy resources.
The documents indicates over the past years, that the energy sector was confronted by high cost of extending electricity, vandalism of infrastructure, complexity in the acquisition of land and the right of and litigation leading to project delays and increased cost among others.
