The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum today constituted a task force to undertake in the review of contracts between the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and Government on the basis of economic changes in the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and to recommend appropriate policy action that will enable the Government achieve value for money on all PPAs signed to date.

CS Charles Keter and (CNPC) China National Petroleum Corporation Vice President, Zhao Zhengzhang signing the MOU amendment of the 350MW Geothermal steam production and power generation.

Kenya and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding to partner in the production of 350MW of geothermal power that will be generated in KenGen and GDC’s Menengai and Olkaria geothermal wells.

Lastmile

It was time to enjoy maize after a hectic day. Deputy President William Ruto and CS Charles Keter have light moments at the house of Mama Mary Wambui of Ngwataniru village in Njoro after they lit her house, courtsey of the Last Mile Connectivity Program. Wambui would not hide her joy.

 

Joy greeted the home of Mama Kanono of Marmati ward in Tharaka Constituency when the Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Hon. Charles Keter entered her house to switch on electricity for her on 10th October, 2016. This was the first time Mama Kanono saw light in her village in over 100 years she had lived in this world.

“Thank you my son, this is wonderful. I would have died before I would see the modern light in my house. Go and tell President Uhuru, I am very happy,” said Mama Kanono whose age villagers estimate to be 130 years old.
