Kenya and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding to partner in the production of 350MW of geothermal power that will be generated in KenGen and GDC’s Menengai and Olkaria geothermal wells.

Joy greeted the home of Mama Kanono of Marmati ward in Tharaka Constituency when the Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Hon. Charles Keter entered her house to switch on electricity for her on 10th October, 2016. This was the first time Mama Kanono saw light in her village in over 100 years she had lived in this world.
“Thank you my son, this is wonderful. I would have died before I would see the modern light in my house. Go and tell President Uhuru, I am very happy,” said Mama Kanono whose age villagers estimate to be 130 years old.
