Lokichar – Lamu Crude Oil Pipeline
The project involves development of 836 km, 20-inch diameter pipeline system originating from the oil fields in Lokichar to an export point in Lamu. This include a pipeline, pumping stations, heating system, terminal storage and export facility and other associated facilities. Preparatory activities for the Lokichar – Lamu Crude oil pipeline are ongoing. The technical committee comprising of the Government and the Joint Venture Partners with support of Simmons & Simmons (consultants) prepared the draft Joint Development Agreement (JDA) which sets out the structure to progress the development of the crude oil pipeline. Once finalized, the JDA will guide the finalization of the Terms of Reference (TORs) and Scope of Works for the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) of the crude oil pipeline.
